August at Plattsburgh Flower Market

August is always a little bittersweet around here.

Summer is still in full swing in the shop — we’re sending out birthday bouquets, anniversary arrangements, and those just-because flowers that always make someone’s day — but you can feel that shift happening. College is heading back this month, our other local schools go back next month, and fall is quietly getting ready.

We love this in-between time. It’s busy in the best way.

For Our SUNY Plattsburgh Families Heading Back

With SUNY Plattsburgh students coming back to town this month, we’ve been getting a lot of requests for something small and meaningful for the transition.

If you’re looking for ideas, these are what we’ve been putting together the most at our flower shop in Plattsburgh:

Dorm and apartment plants. We always have a mix of plants in the shop, from small desk-sized plants up to large floor plants, plus assorted dish gardens. They’re perfect for brightening up a dorm room, apartment, or classroom.

A “thinking of you” bouquet. A lot of parents have been sending a small bouquet for flower delivery to campus for that first week away. It’s a simple way to say “we’re proud of you and we’re thinking of you.”

A little thank you for teachers. With local schools starting next month, a small arrangement is such a kind way to kick off the school year.

If you need something for a small space, just stop in or reach out. We’ll help you find something that fits your space and your budget, and we do offer flower delivery in Plattsburgh, NY and to campus.

What’s Blooming Right Now

I have to say, August might be my favorite month for flowers. While it’s been a quieter summer for big weddings, we are still here for all of life’s smaller celebrations — birthdays, showers, anniversaries, memorials, and everything in between.

Right now in the cooler we have all the best of late summer — warm, rich colors and lots of texture. If you’ve never just come in to grab something fresh for your own kitchen table, this is the month to do it.

A Quick Shop Update

For those who have been following along, thank you for your patience while we work behind the scenes. We’re still on Wix with our Ecwid store — we’re not switching platforms — we’re just taking our time to really optimize everything.

The goal is to have it much more cleaned up this fall, with more fresh floral products to choose from, better photos of what we actually make, and an easier way to order online.

For now, you can order through our website or by giving us a call, or by stopping in to see us at our flower shop in Plattsburgh. You’re always welcome to message us on Facebook or Instagram if you have a question — we love hearing from you there — we just don’t take official orders through social messages.

Thanks for keeping us blooming all summer long and sticking with us while we tidy things up behind the scenes.

With love,

Melanie & the team at Plattsburgh Flower Market
